what is the Qualifications Audit Tool?

be part of the first accurate picture of the early years workforce in England

The Early Years Workforce Qualifications Audit Tool is an online database where you can record and store information about your setting and staff. It is an easy way to record the qualifications that staff hold or are working towards and their additional training and development achievements.

The audit tool has many benefits for your setting and you can find out about some of these by clicking here.

an introduction...

how does the Audit Tool work?

  • Step 1 - Practitioners complete a form to give consent to be included and information about their qualifications and training - this can be downloaded from CWDC's website
  • Step 2 - You will need to register onto the audit tool, then input the information
  • Step 3 - You can then view your data and come back to it at any point to update the information on an ongoing basis. Don't forget to update the audit tool when somebody joins or leaves your setting or gains a further qualification.

how will the information be used?
The information will be collated and available to the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) and your local authority. National Organisations (such as Ofsted and NDNA) will also be able to request reports from CWDC. By using the Audit Tool, it will mean that you will no longer need to spend time producing one-off reports and the information is readily available for you, and relevant organisations about staff qualifications.

why has it been developed?
The Audit Tool has been developed by the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) in partnership with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) so that more up-to-date, quality information can be kept about the workforce. The information will be used to understand the training and development needs of the workforce and this will inform CWDC’s programme of work.
